W HOTEL HOLLYWOOD

SET AT THE WORLD-RENOWN INTERSECTION OF HOLLYWOOD AND VINE, IN HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, AN ICONIC DEVELOPMENT WAS SOUGHT TO HOUSE A ‘W HOTEL’ MIXED USE PROJECT. CONCEPTUALIZED TO FURTHER A PEDESTIAN-FREINDLY STREETSCAPE, THE BUILDING FORM EMBRACES HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD WITH A LARGE OUTDOOR PLAZA AND A REHABILITATED HOLLYWOOD AND VINE METRO STOP. ADDITIONALLY, A LINEAR ‘RED CARPET’ CIRCULATION SEQUENCE IS IMPLEMENTED FROM HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD AND INTO THE HOTEL LOBBY AND BEYOND INTO THE CAR VALET AT AN INTERNAL VEHICULAR COURTYARD. THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT SITE, AN EXTENSIVE SIGNAGE PROGRAM IS ARCHITECTURALLY INTEGRATED TO FURTHER THE VISCERAL ACTIVITY AND ‘HOLLYWOOD’ AMBIANCE OF THE PROJECT‘S PUBLIC SPACES. FURTHER PROJECT DESIGN ELEMENTS INCLUDE RESTORATION OF THE NEIGHBORING HISTORIC TAFT BUILDING AND REHABILITATION OF EXISTING SMALLER HISTORICAL RETAIL SHOPS ALONG VINE STREET. INTERNALLY, ROOF-TOP POOLS, CLUBROOMS, AND AMENITY SPACES WERE SOUGHT FOR THE USE OF THE HOTEL GUESTS. SPECIAL ACCOMODATION WAS ALSO REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT’S ANTICIPATED CELEBRITY GUESTS, AND INCLUDED PRIVATE HELICOPTER PADS AND PRIVATE INTERNAL CIRCULATION CORRIDORS. THE PROJECT’S UNDERGROUND 5 SUBTERRANEAN PARKING LEVELS WERE CAREFULLY DESIGNED IN AND AROUND EXISITNG TUNNELS AND STREET LEVEL METRO STOPS. TODAY THE PROJECT IS RECOGNIZED AS THE MOST DISTINCTIVE, AND HIGHEST QUALITY CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENT IN HOLLYWOOD.
